Great to see that you found our website. Welcome!

Who we are: We are a local association under the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare (MLL). The local MLL Tikkurila Association was founded on September 20, 1943. Our area of activity includes Tikkurila, Simonkylä, Ilola, and Hiekkaharju. Tikkurila association's operations are based on the values, principles of operation, and the guidelines defined at the general meeting of the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare (MLL). You can read more about MLL and the child protection policy in English here About MLL - The Mannerheim League for Child Welfare

What we do: Our goal is to promote the well-being of children, youth, and families with children in our area, in ways chosen by our members. Our activities are guided by the rules approved by the MLL central organization. In accordance with these rules, the association creates, plans, and implements activities that support the basic safety, well-being, and healthy development of children, youth, and families. Currently, our core activities include the popular family cafés. We also organize other events in our area, as opportunities allow.

How: Our activities are purely and only based on voluntaty work.

The board

The activities of the MLL Tikkurila are coordinated by the board, which in 2025 consists of four members. In addition, we have active volunteers involved in our family café activities. The association is led by our long-time chairperson, Tuuli Rytkönen (phone: 045-6752256).

The board meets about four times a year, two of which are statutory meetings: the spring and autumn meetings. In these meetings, we address the statutory matters but also brainstorm and, when possible, implement activities that benefit children, youth, and families in our area. The statutory spring and autumn meetings are open to everyone, and members of the association have voting rights at these meetings.

Are you interested in joining the board? Previous experience in board work is not required – the most important qualities are enthusiasm, a desire to make an impact, and a willingness to develop local activities. Feel free to get in touch! The board is elected for a one-year term, and the new board for the 2026 term will be elected at the autumn meeting at the end of 2025. Until then, we encourage you to join our activities, whether as a guest at our events or as a volunteer helping to organize them.

If you would like to bring an issue to the board's attention, you can send us a message via email at mll.tikkurila@gmail.com. We are happy to receive ideas and suggestions!

Tikkurila Family café

The Mannerheim League for Child Welfare (MLL) Tikkurila association is hosting family cafés in the spring of 2025, every other Wednesday and Saturday. These cafés are open to all parents and young children. We offer coffee, tea, and light snacks. Feel free to bring your own snacks – we have a microwave, refrigerator, and children's dishes available for your use.

The family café meets at Ukko-Pekka (Aniskuja 3, 01300 Vantaa), an open space where children can play freely with their families. There is no scheduled program, but plenty of time for free play and socializing. The event is free of charge and organized by volunteers.

Note! Dates may change. Please follow MLL Perhekahvila Tikkurila Facebook group for updates on any unexpected changes.
